about the collection
Sulymenko’s large scale, heavily layered watercolour + gouache paintings on handmade paper are captivating in their content and their irregular, raw shapes, heavily influenced by her near surrounding area, the deep forests, rivers, and natural landscape are depicted in her paintings with a hint of the surreal. Often finding herself wandering in both the real and the imaginary, the viewer can discover new findings in the beautiful and ominous stills captured in the artist’s world. A human touch and a sense of vast surroundings and unknown depths is felt in her textured and large scale mixed media paintings, that extend the confines of the paper.
